Colin D. Sumrall received his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of Tennessee. Colin’s research broadly addresses the early diversity of echinoderms from a phylogenetic perspective and includes systematics, development, and paleoecology. He served the Paleontological Society as a member of the International Research Program/Sepkoski Grants Committee (1999-present), Education and Outreach Committee (2000-2010), Southeastern Section Chair (2005-2006), and Associate Editor, Journal of Paleontology (2007-present). He is a long-time advocate of public engagement in science.
